Kick off meeting for the Cruisin for Hope 2009 Milwaukie Event.

On Wednesday Night, April 8th at 6pm at 2146 SE Monroe-American Legion Post 180 Milwaukie.

CFH will provide some pizza and we’ll get the show on the road as close to 6pm as we can………we plan to cover the overview of the event, needs for volunteers in various aspects, and develop a task list/hit list of targets and results milestones for getting this event together.

As a reminder, the car cruise in event is mainly on Saturday with the boat races running Sat./Sunday in the bay at the boat ramp. For some reason there is some confusion about fireworks……..at this point, unless someone steps forward, we have no plans for fireworks during the weekend. The only fireworks will be on July 4th at Skamania Lodge at the Cruise in and Concert – but that is July 4th, 2009.

Please pass this note along to anyone else you can think of that may want to help and be a part of this years event. We can really use some additional help this year…….many of our volunteers from last year recently deployed to Iraq for another tour…so keep them in your prayers please!

Thank you for your support – seee you on the 8th!

Portland Roadster Show 3/7/09

This weekend at the Portland Roadster Show, come meet Jacob VanVoorhis, young cancer survivor from the 2008 Cruisin for Hope event.  A year ago, Jacob was fighting bone cancer with a very dismal prognosis for living.  Between your support from the community and the incredible outpouring of love and care from folks, he is now 100% cancer free.  He just had a scan within the past few weeks and the doctors at Doernbecher are astonished, but happy to see the cancer has gone from his body.  He still has some healing to do from his multiple surgeries, but he is on his way!

Jacob will be with Sgt. Damon Coates at his Purple Heart Nova as well as with the Cruisin for Hope booth signing autographs between noon and 6pm Saturday, March 7th and again on Sunday.  Former Blazer Jerome Kersey may stop by as well in support and sign a few items – Jerome was the honorary Grand Marshall of the 2008 event and is know for his fine Galaxie ride.

WHAT TO BRING

Bring an unwrapped gift for a child 3-17. This is a wonderful event & a chance to give a little something to someone truly in need of a bright spot in there day. The gift’s that are donated are given out year round to the children as they get settled into there room and hopefully gives them some comfort. Also this is a time to give something to mom & dad (if you feel so moved) as so many times they go without the basics because they are putting all of their time, energy, & effort into their children.

We’ll be meeting up at 11am Saturday December 13th – we usually have at least 200 cars+ – this is a great cause for kids! There is a cruise to Beaches afterwards for fun too if you’d like for food and beverages of your choice.
