Post wrap-up from Ulhra.org on CFH event

The Hopp Racing team took the UL-1 Graham Trucking GT – Happy Go Lucky – Pump Tech to Milwaukie, Oregon June 13 & 14 to help a great cause. “Cruisin’ For Hope” was put together to benefit kids with life threatening illnesses. The UL-1 Graham Trucking never hit the water but was still a great hit, making lots of noise for the crowd and TV. Greg Hopp put kids in the cockpit and all you could see were their smiles from ear to ear, sparking dreams of becoming boat racers. Peyton Hopp, Greg’s son, showing signs as a 3rd generation boat racer by driving an electric powered cooler to a new speed record.

Greg Hopp got in a 20SS outboard hydro for the first time in over 20 years, and gave a perfect example on how NOT to drive an outboard hydro.

Learn more about this years focus family and the Milwaukie Event!

This year 2009, the Cruisin For Hope focus family lives in Milwaukie, Oregon and is facing incredible challenges.

The Wischnofske’s, Ted and Amanda, are in their early 30’s and have three beautiful children.  They are however dealing with enormous medical challenges.  Their eldest child, seven year old Chance, is currently on the Make a Wish Foundation wish list.  Like most children his age Chance just wants to go to Disneyland, except he has Cystic Fibrosis.  Because of his Cystic Fibrosis, Chance will likely soon require total lung replacement surgery, assuming donor organs can be acquired.  Unfortunately, even such extensive surgery will not be enough, he would likely continue to require a heart transplant which is not covered by the family’s health plan.

Kick off meeting for the Cruisin for Hope 2009 Milwaukie Event.

On Wednesday Night, April 8th at 6pm at 2146 SE Monroe-American Legion Post 180 Milwaukie.

CFH will provide some pizza and we’ll get the show on the road as close to 6pm as we can………we plan to cover the overview of the event, needs for volunteers in various aspects, and develop a task list/hit list of targets and results milestones for getting this event together.

As a reminder, the car cruise in event is mainly on Saturday with the boat races running Sat./Sunday in the bay at the boat ramp. For some reason there is some confusion about fireworks……..at this point, unless someone steps forward, we have no plans for fireworks during the weekend. The only fireworks will be on July 4th at Skamania Lodge at the Cruise in and Concert – but that is July 4th, 2009.

Please pass this note along to anyone else you can think of that may want to help and be a part of this years event. We can really use some additional help this year…….many of our volunteers from last year recently deployed to Iraq for another tour…so keep them in your prayers please!

Thank you for your support – seee you on the 8th!
