This weekend at the Portland Roadster Show, come meet Jacob VanVoorhis, young cancer survivor from the 2008 Cruisin for Hope event. A year ago, Jacob was fighting bone cancer with a very dismal prognosis for living. Between your support from the community and the incredible outpouring of love and care from folks, he is now 100% cancer free. He just had a scan within the past few weeks and the doctors at Doernbecher are astonished, but happy to see the cancer has gone from his body. He still has some healing to do from his multiple surgeries, but he is on his way! Jacob will be with Sgt. Damon Coates at his Purple Heart Nova as well as with the Cruisin for Hope booth signing autographs between noon and 6pm Saturday, March 7th and again on Sunday. Former Blazer Jerome Kersey may stop by as well in support and sign a few items – Jerome was the honorary Grand Marshall of the 2008 event and is know for his fine Galaxie ride. |
